Leliami Ceramics - celebrating heritage, creativity and community
On a balmy July evening in Seattle, I had the privilege of capturing the artistry of Leliami Ceramics in a brand shoot that celebrated not only the pieces themselves but also the story behind them. With the golden summer light streaming in, we crafted scenes that reflected the heart of Leli's work: her passion for ceramics, her identity as a mother, and her connection to her Amazigh heritage.
Leli, the artist behind Leliami Ceramics, creates micro-batch pottery in her small studio near Discovery Park, a serene area that inspires her creative process. For Leli, ceramics is more than just a craft; it’s a way to find peace amid the busyness of life, a method of honoring the indigenous women of the Kabylie region of North Africa, and a tribute to the cultural significance of traditional stoneware.
Throughout our session, we played with textures, light, and movement to showcase the soul of her work. Her ceramics are beautiful, functional pieces that tell a deeper story of resilience and artistry. It was important to capture the human side of her craft—her hands at work, the moments of reflection, and the joy she finds in both her creations and her role as a mother.
What makes Leli’s work even more remarkable is her mission. Every piece she sells contributes to something greater. Leli donates 100% of her profits to charities, which she announces on her Instagram. Her ceramics are a testament to the power of art to bring people together, honor tradition, and create meaningful change.
This shoot was a celebration of artistry and purpose, and I’m so grateful to have been part of its story. If you’re in Seattle or beyond and looking for ceramics with deeper meaning, I highly recommend exploring Leliami Ceramics.
